NOTHING, not even an out of control chainsaw, could stop Tyabb footy stalwart Neil Hose from witnessing the Yabbies’ drought-breaking win last Saturday.
Poor old Neil suffered serious facial injuries, including a busted nose and deep cuts, after the chainsaw he was using kicked back off a tree root and got him in the face on the Monday.
While resting at home on Saturday, he got wind that his beloved Yabbies were leading Pearcedale and on track to snap their 49-game losing streak.
Gingerly, Neil got himself to the ground for the last quarter and got the best possible medicine - a Yabbies win.
TYABB really did deserve the win, with news emerging that the players decided before the game to donate their match payments to two great causes.
They are giving a large portion of the money to the family of the late Beau Miller, the Devon Meadows vice-captain who passed away recently, leaving a wife and two young children.
The Yabbies will also give to the Cure for MND charity that Neale Daniher has championed.
“We’re not trying to seek any attention...we just wanted to help,” Tyabb coach Mark Paganoni said.
