IT’S a blow, but what can you do?

That’s how Mt Eliza coach Troy Shannon summed up the news that star full-forward Justin Van Unen would miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring tendon injury.

The Redlegs are second on the ladder, with finals to start later this month.

“No one likes to lose a 100-goal kicker but the reality is we haven’t had him much this season anyway,” Shannon said.

“It’s forced our hand a little. We will just move on.”

Shannon said Mt Eliza was fortunate to have “so much” depth.

He believes Van Unen, who sustained the injury against Karingal in Round 13, would continue his career at Mt Eliza next season.

“I would imagine so. One thing about JV, he’s got some really good friends down there. Mt Eliza is his home, there’s no doubt about that,” he said.
