FRANKSTON Bombers coach Beau Muston labelled his side’s fast-finishing 13-point win over Devon Meadows on Saturday as “a bit of a light bulb moment’’ for his players.

Muston said his side has “just been going’’ in recent weeks and the 9.11 (65) to 7.10 (52) win, after being challenged, was a timely wake-up call.

Trailing by 18 points going into the last quarter, the Bombers kicked five unanswered goals to secure their sixth win in a row in Nepean league. Frankston’s tall defender Ryan Marks-Logan was instrumental with a dynamic last term.

Fellow defenders Corey Buchan and Jarryd Amalfi — both of whom kicked goals in the last term — were also outstanding, while Jay Reynolds, Jason Bedford and Ryan Kitchin were among the best.

“We haven’t been playing amazing footy,’’ Muston, who returned from injury, said of the 7-1 Bombers.

“Sometimes it’s good to win ugly. I said to the guys, good sides just find a way to win and I was really pleased with their courage to come back from 20 points down going into the last quarter … Yeah, it was a bit of a lightbulb moment for them.’’

Dromana is eyeing a top-five spot after tossing Somerville by 16 points to make it three wins in a row.

The Tigers were in front at every change, sealing their best win of the season with four goals in the last quarter. Jay Hutchinson, Shaun Clarke and Craig Christie played starring roles, while Reece Wilde (four goals), Sam Fowler (three) and Beau Cosson (two) were lively up forward. At 4-4, Dromana is up to seventh spot. Somerville has lost four of its past five games.

Chris Dawes slotted five goals as ladder leaders Sorrento beat Red Hill by 40 points to make it eight-from-eight.

The Sharks kept Red Hill goalless in the second and third quarters on their way to a 11.18 (84) to 6.8 (44) win. Former Collingwood VFL player Tyrren Head was brilliant for Sorrento, earning best-on-ground honours, while Luke Tapscott, Troy Schwarze, James Hallahan and Shannon Gladman also impressed. Red Hill was without Chris Irving (injured), while Ben Poole has retired because of a knee injury.

A scintillating seven-goal last quarter helped Hastings defeat Pearcedale by 56 points, with Dale Alanis, Luke Smith and Shaun Foster (five goals) in sparkling form.
