EDITHVALE-Aspendale has made some signings, including a ruckman, to help cover the loss of key players.
Wonthaggi big man Chris Wylie is one of the Eagles’ most important recruits, coach Graeme Yeats said.
“He’s exactly what we need,’’ Yeats said.
“He is six foot six, 100kg and has a big strong body — exactly what we lacked last year. So it’s going to make a huge difference for us to have someone who can compete and give us a really strong contest around the ball.’’
Edi-Asp’s other additions are former Dandenong Stingray key position player Joel O’Sullivan, East Brighton midfielder Steve Murphy and Andrew Luxa, back from East Brighton.
After making the finals last season, Edi-Asp lost four of its best players — Brett O’Hanlon, Matt Clark, Brad Tagg and Jarrod Garth.
“I think we’ve got back a little bit of ground,’’ Yeats said.
“So while we’ve lost some good players, we’ve obviously filled some holes. We aim to be competitive again.’’
