EDITHVALE-ASPENDALE’S quest to return to the top of Peninsula football has received a significant boost with the signing of seven key recruits.
They include Eagles favourites Brent Bowden, Matthew Clark and Bradley Tagg, returning after a season with Foster.
Bowden captained Foster and Clark won the best and fairest award.
Edi-Asp’s other signings are Casey Scorpion Lachie Batten, Dermott Cleary (Oakleigh Amatuers captain and B&F winner), Josh Van Dyke (Foster) and Michael Bussey (Rowville).
Edi-Asp coach Graeme Yeats said the recruits would strengthen the Eagles, who have contested the past two finals series.
“They’ll be huge for us,” he said.
“We needed to get the right type of players. We were specific about getting players in who kick the footy okay…so we earmarked a couple and we think we’ve got blokes who will really add value to us.
“We know in the last couple of years we were a long way off YC and the Mounties, and we were competitive with everyone else.
“So as soon as we finished the year we looked at who we would target. We are very happy.”
Edi-Asp has also announced Askin Performance Panels as the club’s major sponsor again in 2017.
