FROM the African jungle to Frankston Park … Brendan Fevola will be out to steal the show on Good Friday.
At least, the Frankston Bombers are hoping so.
Fev will pull on the Bombers’ No.25 jumper and line up at full-forward against Pearcedale in the much-hyped Nepean league season opener.
The former Carlton and Brisbane star has spent the past eight weeks in the South African jungle on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!, culminating in him being crowned king of the jungle.
Long before he went on the show, he signed up for a one-off game with the Frankston Bombers – and on Friday he will honour that arrangement.
Frankston Bombers coach Beau Muston said his players were clamouring to be a part of the game.
“Every year everyone wants to play round one,” he said.
“With Fev and, what we hope will be a bigger than normal crowd, there is some really good competition to grab one of those 21 other spots.”
Muston said Fevola did himself proud on the show and the Bombers would be thrilled to have him on their side.
“We’re just lucky to be a part of it,” Muston said.
Advertising signs have been erected around the area to let people know about the Frankston Fevolution on Good Friday.
In an added bonus for fans, the Frankston Bombers’ runner on the day will be Hawks legend and one-time Frankston Bomber Dermott Brereton.
Good Friday: Frankston Bombers v Pearcedale, 2pm at Frankston Park. Family Fun Day, with jumping castle, face paint and fairy floss. And … starring Fev!
