Lovett, 34, booted nine goals in his brief stint with the undefeated, ladder-leading Sorrento Sharks this season.
The speedy right-footer had 88 senior appearances for Essendon from 2005-09 and received the medal as best-afield in the 2005 Anzac Day match between the Dons and Collingwood.
Jewell said Sorrento was keen to regain Justin McCleary, who played in the opening three games before being cleared to Kooweerup after being squeezed out of the side because of player points.
Sorrento hosts bottom-placed Tyabb at David McFarlane Reserve on Saturday.
Former Collingwood and Melbourne forward Chris Dawes is likely to play for the Sharks, having kicked six goals in two games with his new club.
