A SUBURBAN junior footballer had to be revived after being struck in the face by the football yesterday.
Pines Under 19s player Kadel Key went into cardiac arrest and was revived on the field after being hit by the ball against Mt Eliza at Eric Bell Reserve, Frankston North yesterday morning.
Trainers from both clubs administered CPR on Key who was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital.
Pines club officials said on Sunday morning Key was okay and expected to make a full recovery.
The Under 19s game was called off after the accident in the second quarter, when Key was standing on the mark as a Mt Eliza player kicked for goal, the ball striking him in the face as he leapt in the air.
Key is a national-level javelin thrower who was due to fly out to Fiji on Sunday to compete in an international competition.
