Outer East FN: Warburton-Wesburn’s Scarlett Henderson breaks goal record

There’s a new goal guru in women’s footy, with a Warburton-Wesburn sharpshooter shattering records, driving the Burras’ perfect season and premiership charge in Outer East league.

Scarlett Henderson has rewritten the record books as the Outer East women’s league’s premier goal-kicker this season.

The Warburton-Wesburn forward has shattered the previous single-season record of 43 goals, held by Pakenham’s Aeisha Kolaritsch, after slotting her 44th against Seville in Round 13. Henderson now sits on 52 goals from 12 games, including a five-goal haul against Thornton Eildon on Saturday that took her past 50 (her celebration was priceless!).

Her best hauls this season include eight in the opening round, and two bags of seven.

After Monbulk couldn’t field a women’s team in 2025, Henderson joined Warburton-Wesburn following approaches from multiple clubs.

The move has proved inspired, with her prolific scoring helping drive the team’s perfect 13-0 record atop the ladder.

Despite her remarkable tally, Henderson maintains a simple approach: “My main focus is to kick one goal. Once I get one goal, I feel that relief and then relax and flow better.”

With finals approaching and one regular season round remaining, Henderson’s experience from Monbulk’s 2024 premiership makes her invaluable to Warburton-Wesburn’s title aspirations.

Warburton-Wesburn has options aplenty up forward, with Madi Ward (24 goals), Jasmine Enever (21) and Gabrielle Woods (16) also among the comp’s leading goal kickers.

Emerson Woods is also having an outstanding season for the Burras, using the ball well and hitting the scoreboard (she has kicked 11 goals).

Warburton-Wesburn host fourth-placed Yea in the final round of the season on Saturday. Yea are on a six-game winning streak, with Madison Albers in dashing form.

OEFN Senior Women’s Division 2 ladder: Warburton-Wesburn 13-0, Wandin 10-3, Emerald 7-5-1, Yea 7-6, Thornton Eildon 4-7-1, Officer 2-11, Seville 1-12.
