The Omeo District league’s most influential players are ready take to the field this weekend as finals footy gets underway in the state’s east.

Lindenow South are the team to beat having finished the season on top of the leader with just one loss to its name.

But Swifts Creek will not be too far behind having finished just half a game back.

All the attention will be on the semi-final between Omeo-Benambra and Bruthen at Swifts Creek Recreation Reserve who finished third and fourth respectively.

Here’s our list of the top 20 players to watch throughout the 2021 finals series.

Darren Allen (Swifts Creek)

The mid-season recruit has 19 goals from three games and shapes as a potential match winner.

Jamie Barton (Bruthen)

Barton has again been an impressive target inside forward 50 this season with 28 goals. He booted 67 in 2019.

Travis Balmer (Swifts Creek)

Balmer finished second in the league medal this season having been named in the best on five occasions for his side.

Brandon Betts (Omeo-Benambra)

Betts has been in stellar form when he’s had the opportunity to play in recent games with five performances earning him a nomination in the best.

Mark Cooper (Bruthen)

In his first season with the club, Cooper has consistently appeared among his team’s better players.

Robert Cooper (Bruthen)

Cooper is a pre-season recruit who has played a key role in helping the Bulldogs reach the pointy end of the season once again.

Cody Graske (Omeo-Benambra)

Graske has been named best on ground four times this season and was one of his side’s highest vote getters in the league medal.

Dylan Hack (Swifts Creek)

In 11 games, Hack has been included in the best for his side on 10 occasions.

Jesse Hack (Swifts Creek)

Hack is as consistent as they come for a Demons side who finished second on the ladder.

Beau Haslam (Omeo-Benambra)

Haslam has consistently appeared the better players for his side in their bid for a premiership.

Rodney Johnson (Bruthen)

After returning from the East Gippsland competition, Johnson has been a dangerous opponent in front of goal with 15 majors from seven games.

Sam Howden (Lindenow South)

The skipper has been in fine form this season with 20 goals from nine games.

Bradley Peddler (Lindenow South)

In just seven games, Peddler has shown how important he is to his team and will be critical as they aim to win a first premiership since 2016.

Nathan Pollard (Lindenow South)

Pollard capped off a terrific season last week when he won a third league best and fairest medal.

Jay Robbie (Bruthen)

Another player to have returned to the Bulldogs this season and will play a pivotal role in the elimination final on Saturday.

Max Solomon (Swifts Creek)

Forms a devastating one-two punch with teammate Darren Allen. Solomon has kicked 100 goals in a season back in 2017.

Riley Steenholdt (Omeo-Benambra)

Steenholdt has been named in his side’s better players in all eight games but has not played since the middle of June.

Jake St John (Lindenow South)

A consistent player, St John has appeared in the best in half of his side’s games this season.

Mason Tait (Omeo-Benambra)

The competition’s leading goalkicker with 35 goals, Tait will be hopeful of making an impact when it matters most.

Russell White (Lindenow South)

White is a big player who thrives on the big stage having been named best on ground in his side’s 2015 premiership win.
