BRENT “Boomer” Harvey followed his family’s footsteps with his debut game for North Heidelberg yesterday.
The 38-year-old, who played an AFL record 432 games for North Melbourne, joined his brother Shane in the Northern Football League practice match against Oak Park.
He was excited to get onto home turf at Shelley Park prior to his first match with the club.
“When people ask me why I’m playing local footy it’s an easy answer — my brother Shane, my cousin and my Dad played here so I wanted to come back to the family club,” Harvey said.
“I’ve come down here to watch Shane play the last six or seven years and Dad for 100 years before that.”
The Harvey brothers kicked 10 goals between them as they led their team to an impressive 94-point win.
