GARY Hall’s reign as South Morang coach is expected to continue into a third season after he led the club to this year’s Division 3 preliminary final.
South Morang has been advertising its senior, reserves and under-19 coaching positions, however that is a requirement under the Northern Football League club’s constitution.

President Chris Donnelley confirmed the Lions had received external applications for the senior role, but was emphatic when asked if Hall would continue.
“We had a couple of applications, but for all intents and purposes, as far as I am aware, Gary Hall will continue on,” he said.
“There’d be no reason why we would want to change coach after what he has done over the past two years.”
Hall took over in May last year after the departure of Dean Grainger, leading South Morang to the minor premiership before it lost the decider to Banyule.
Unfancied after losing a host of senior players, the club legend steered a youthful Lions side to the preliminary final this season, which they lost to Panton Hill.
“It’s more just to do with the constitution that we must advertise it,” Donnelley said.
“We’d have rocks in our heads if we didn’t want to continue with what he has started.
“He’s definitely a club person and what we need there.”
Hall expressed his desire to coach on after the preliminary final, saying he was “always at the club”.
Donnelley said the club’s 2019 committee had to be installed before any coaching roles are confirmed, but added he “definitely” expected Hall to be reappointed.
