AHMED Saad has accepted a two-match penalty after being sent off during the second quarter of a Northern Football League match on Saturday.
The former St Kilda goalsneak, who plays for West Preston-Lakeside, was shown a red card after bumping North Heidelberg’s runner during their Division 1 fixture.
Vision shows the Bulldogs’ runner, Blake Holmes, crossing the centre circle before Saad collects him with his left shoulder, sending him crashing to the ground.
West Preston-Lakeside coach Rob Maiorana said Saad had “reluctantly” accepted the penalty and the club was “disappointed” but would move on.
The runner picks himself off the turf while AFL games record holder Brent Harvey holds his teammates back in the aftermath as an umpire shows Saad a red card.
Saad appears to plead his case before jogging from the field.
The league’s tribunal notes show the 28-year-old, who has kicked 111 goals in 25 games during the past two seasons for the Roosters, accepted a two-week set ban.
North Heidelberg coach Jimmy House said the bump was “completely inappropriate” and confirmed the club’s runner had not been injured in the incident.
Saad will miss this week’s crucial away game against Bundoora and a home fixture against Hurstbridge.
