Gippsland Power 2024 Coates Talent League Boys list breakdown

The Gippsland Power continue to pump out AFL talent and this year looks no different. Here’s what you need to know about every player in the 2024 boys squad.

Littered with talents of all shapes and sizes, the 2024 Gippsland Power list is as exciting as any other.

Here is a player-by-player breakdown of the finalised Power 2024 squad ....

Goanar Ruach

Ruach is small to medium-sized forward who offers plenty of craft. He’s a top-age player who provides the flair footy fans love from the South-Sudanese livewires.

Jesse Bills

A combative small midfielder who can play forward as well. Bills is a bottom-age player who will look to get as many matches as he can under his belt before next year.

Xavier Lindsay

An Australian-Academy product who played in last season’s grand final against Sandringham. A super clean, good decision maker who the Power has high hopes on.

Zac O’Keefe

O’Keefe played Vic Country for the Under-16s last year. He’s played a stack of footy across junior and senior grades, including three grand finals in one week last year.

Finn Donohue

A skinny, raw product who has shown strong fundamentals skills wise. Donohue has a big tank and knows how to use it running up and down the wing. He’s the younger brother of Max, who is also on the list.

Julian Callahan

Callahan is a midfielder who can also go across half back. Speed is his biggest weapon, clocking in as one of the Power’s quickest players.

Willem Duursma

Yet another Duursma coming through the Power ranks. Willem is the tallest of the three that have been drafted, standing at 194cm. Despite his size, he can play anywhere on the ground.

Tom Matthews

Matthews is a crafty forward who can kick goals from anywhere. He’s the type of forward who likes to get under the skin of his opposition the right way. He played in Gippsland’s side last year as a 16-year-old.

Max Woodall

Hailing from Moe, Woodall is a two-sided player who can kick elegantly on both feet.

Max Donohue

The reliable Donohue played all year in 2023 as a bottom-ager, where his endurance and speed stood out. He plays along the wing but showed his ability to play forward in the Vic Country Under-17s.

Tom Hanily

Returning as a 19-year-old, Hanily is hoping to have a less-interrupted year than last. He suffered a string of ankle injuries last year but has had surgery and is recovering strongly. He will likely play a bit of VFL this season when he isn’t with the Power.

Jesse Craven

Craven is a competitive beast along the wing. He was a part of Haileybury College’s APS premiership last year. AFL clubs felt he didn’t have enough exposure at Coates league level last year and wanted him back as a 19-year-old.

Max Stobie

Stobie is an energetic half-back flanker that is very committed to the contest. He played majority of the season last year as a bottom-ager.

Mitch Stevens

Stevens is the son of former Adelaide Crow Mark, who qualifies for father-son by two games. Mitch is a bottom-age player who continues to grow.

Brodie Snooks

Snooks is a top-age player but is a newcomer having not made the program last year. He worked hard to make the list, showcasing his elite running capacity.

Campbell Booth

Like Snooks, Booth is also a first-year player in the program but has trained the house down this pre-season. He’s an inside midfielder from Traralgon but can also play on the outside. He’s clean and makes the right decisions in traffic.

Jobe Scapin

A smooth half-back/winger. His kicking is of such high standard, he may trick a few recruiters this year with which is truly his preferred.

Riley Senini

Despite being a bottom-age player, Senini is already looking ready for the rigors of Coates league footy. He’s a tough and strong inside midfielder.

William Brent

Brent is a smooth outside player who is super professional. A coaches dream, he prepares and trains in an exemplary fashion. His ball use by hand and foot is another weapon.

Matthew Hamilton

Hamilton is pushing for a spot across the Powers’ half-back flank. Standing at 188cm, he has the chance to play as a third tall when he gets his opportunity. It’s his first crack in the Power program.

Oliver Wilson

A Caulfield Grammar student who has extreme upside. He’s ferocious with how he attacks the footy.

Finn O’Brien

A hybrid forward, O’Brien isn’t a two-metre tall forward but isn’t a small either. He’s a bottom-age player who came through the under-16s last year.

Archie Terlich

A player you want in your side, Terlich rarely loses a contest in his position down back. He defends well in the air and on the ground. A real team-first player.

Brodie Atkins

Atkin is similar to some of the damaging mid-forward’s the Power have had in the past. He’s got the ability to play forward and take marks but also has the capacity to get his hands dirty in the engine room as well.

Harrison Canning

The athletic Canning has switched from a lead-out forward to a lockdown defender. The Power are super pleased with his progress.

Asher Eastham

Eastham is a high forward type who is terrific in the air. He loves to launch at the ball and has a good set of hands. He played as a bottom-ager last year.

Harry Tatterson

Tatterson is coming into the program for the first time. He’s had senior footy experience at Sale and has shown good signs this pre-season.

Ricky Mentha

Mentha is an Australian-Academy player who is originally from Alice Springs. He moved to Morwell last year and worked his way into the Power squad. The Melbourne NGA prospect will excite a few this year.

Cooper Walton

Walton is the younger brother of Max Walton who has been through the Power program in the past. He is a proactive defender who leads his teammates well. He’s uber-aggressive with how he attacks the footy.

Alix Tauru

Tauru will launch for the footy at every opportunity he can. He stands at 194cm but plays an old-school type of footy where he’s combative in the air and on the ground.

Noah Christy

Christy was playing at Xavier College last year but is now finished and on the Power’s list as a top-ager. He’s an inside midfielder who can play across half forward and half back.

Sam Bradley

Bradley is a tall forward who the Power think competes very strongly.

Matthew Pearce

Pearce is one of the two rucks on the Power’s initial list. He stands at 198cm and is super athletic. His ability to compete is second to none for a big man.

Jehi Esler

A solid defender who took his opportunity as a bottom-age player when the top-agers left for Vic Country last year.

Lewis Robbins

Robbins is 205cm-ruckman who originally hails from Darwin in the Northern Territory. He’s moved locally in the last couple of months and the Power jumped at him. He’s shown great signs in his short time at the Power.
