Dandenong Stingrays 2024 Coates Talent League Boys list breakdown

The Dandenong Stingrays continue to pump out AFL talent and this year looks no different. Here’s what you need to know about every player in the 2024 boys squad.

Littered with talents of all shapes and sizes, the 2024 Dandenong Stingrays list is as exciting as any other.

Here is a player-by-player breakdown of the finalised Stingrays’ 2024 squad ....

Cooper Hynes, Bonbeach YCW

Hynes is one of the Stingrays’ co-captains this season. He has worked extremely hard on his conditioning this off-season, priming himself for a big 2024. Hynes is an elite kick who is also a Vic Country representative.

Harvey Langford, Mount Martha

Langford joins Hynes as one of the captains of this group. He is an AFL-Academy member who has had another big pre-season. He will split his time between mid and forward. He is a left-footer who has a strong presence in the air.

Harrison Doughton, Mt Eliza

Doughton is a talented athlete who showed some signs as a bottom-ager in 2023.

Riley Purton, Lysterfield

A skilful small who will play across half-forward, Purton is a top-age player who kicks well on his left.

Riak Andrew, Berwick

Returning as a 19-year-old, Andrew spent a large portion of the pre-season training with Casey. He will split his time between the Rays and the Demons in 2024, where he is expected to show his strengths across halfback.

Patrick Bloink, Frankston YCW

Bloink, who played as a bottom-ager last year, will be looking to cement his spot through the midfield and forward line this year.

Charlie Rowe, Mt Eliza

Rowe lined up as a bottom-age defender last season and has continued to impress with his training standards. He also has the capacity to pinch hit in the middle.

Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves, Mornington

A bottom-age Vic Country member who debuted as a 16-year-old for the Rays last season. A clever player who will play predominantly forward this year.

Ben Hopkins, Langwarrin

Hopkins is back as a 19-year-old after a solid year last year. He spent the most part of the pre-season at Arden St training with North Melbourne VFL and was impressive in a recent practice match.

Sam Lewis, Red Hill

A bottom-age player who has had a good pre-season, Lewis will spend a bit of time across half-forward and through the midfield.

Tahj De La Rue, Pakenham

De La Rue made some appearances as a bottom-ager last year across the backline and has been working on moving up the ground.

Kayleb Lovett, Beaconsfield

Lovett is a bottom-ager who may have a delayed start due to injury. A smooth but zippy left-footer who will also spend some time with Haileybury when he isn’t with the Rays.

Henry Hayes, Rye

Hayes had an interrupted pre-season last year but has down a mountain of work to be in good shape this year. A left-footer who has played some high-level basketball. Some strong form early could have him around the mark for Vic Country.

Kane Hurst, Berwick

Hurst played some games as a bottom-ager last year and returns this year. He is a tough defender who has good closing speed.

Hamish Terris, Frankston YCW

Terris is an elite runner who will be used on the wing where he can display his potential. He’s a top-age right-footer.

Jacob Grant, Endeavour Hills

Played in Endeavour Hills’ premiership last year and has returned as a 19-year-old. He did a portion of his pre-season at Box Hill and will look to progress his game with the Rays this year.

William White, South Mornington

White played under-16s Vic Country but has had a horrid run with injury. He’s now back to full fitness and looks to be having a free run at it this year. A good-sized player who can play both as a forward and midfielder.

Zane Snowden, Langwarrin

Snowden is returning as a 19-year-old in a bid to develop his craft as a key-position player.

Jordan Doherty, Sorrento

Doherty stands around 200cm tall but is an elite kick for his size on both feet.

Noah Mraz, Narre North Foxes

One of the Stingrays’ stronger prospects. The AFL-Academy member will showcase his talent as a key-defender that can flow through the ruck or forward at times.

Jordan Waters, Beaconsfield

A developing tall that will get exposure across all lines this year.

Jack Lawrence, Berwick

Lawrence is a crafty, right-footed small who will likely play forward this year. He is aligned with Haileybury and will get some opportunities there this year.

Thomas Sullivan, Edithvale-Aspendale

Sullivan is a bottom-ager with pace to burn. When he gets an opportunity, the Stingrays will look to utilise his speed on the outside.

Raiden Bergman, Berwick

The younger brother of North Melbourne player Miller, Raiden is a combative midfielder who can play across halfback as well.

Lachlan Roe, Berwick

A developing top-age ruck who is returning from back surgery.

Max Lee, Edithvale-Aspendale

Lee has impressed as a bottom-ager this year, earning his place in the Stingrays’ leadership group. He will run across halfback this season.

Archie Leclerc, Carrum Patterson Lakes

Leclerc is an evolving third-tall who can play at either end of the ground. 2024 is his bottom-age year.

Jack Karthigesu, Frankston Dolphins

Karthigesu is a St Kilda Next Generation Academy player who plays as a small forward.

Louis Hodder, Mt Eliza

Hodder is a clever bottom-ager who will play either on the wing or across half-forward.

Justin Barnes, Rye

Barnes had a good year as a bottom-age player last year and has carried that form into this year. He has solid pace and kicks the ball with his right foot out on the wing. Barnes is also a talented cricketer, once taking 9-7 in a junior semi final.

Jackson Muscillo, Hastings

A tough inside midfielder who can push forward. He is in his top-age and kicks the ball well on his right foot. He will also split his time with Haileybury College this year.

Charlie Orchard, Langwarrin

Despite not playing a game as a bottom-ager last year, Orchard has had a strong pre-season. He reads the ball quite well as a key-defender.

Nate Marchant, Mount Martha

Marchant is a bottom-ager who can play as a third tall at either end of the ground.

Coren Giliam, Fountain Gate

Giliam played some games late last year as a bottom-ager, filling the high half-forward role. He’s had a solid pre-season who is in Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy.

Jasper Russell, Mt Eliza

Another Haileybury product in his bottom-age year. Russell is an elite runner who will play as an outside midfielder or across the flanks.

Jayde Varlet, Beaconsfield

Varlet has elite speed and is very powerful. He is a bottom-age player but has shown strong signs early. He can play anywhere but looks likely to start as a forward.

Elwood Peckett, Bonbeach YCW

Son of Justin Peckett, Elwood has had a great pre-season and is part of the leadership group. He will split his time between midfield and halfback.

Jackson Long, Mt Eliza

Long played under-16s Vic Country last year as a developing key-position player and will look to grow on that this season.

Seth Cleary, Frankston Rovers

A bottom-age player, Cleary is a terrific runner who knows how to find the ball. He kicks the ball well on his left.

Toby Sinnema, Narre North Foxes

Sinnema played two games for the Stingrays as a 16-year-old last year. He is a neat left-footer who will play on the outside.

Tyson Anic, Langwarrin

A bottom-ager who will rotate between high half-forward and through the midfield. He has put in the work with a good pre-season.

Oscar Lonie, Frankston Dolphins

Oscar is the son of Ryan Lonie who played 123 games for Collingwood. Oscar is a bottom-age player who can play at either end of the ground.

Oscar is the son of former Pie Ryan.

Zak Smith, Frankston Rovers

Smith is a progressing bottom-age third-tall who can play at either end of the ground.

Josh Granger, Bonbeach YCW

Granger is a developing tall who will play in all three thirds of the ground this year. He will split his time with the Stingrays and Brighton Grammar.

Thomas Hose, South Mornington

Hose is a good-sized hybrid who can float between an outside midfielder and third tall. He kicks the footy on his right foot.

Fraser Marino, Bonbeach YCW

Despite being a bottom-ager, Marino is already pushing 200cm. He will spend the year developing his craft in the ruck.

Riley Hilliard, Beaconsfield

Hilliard is a strong runner who will play outside roles either as a wing or as a high half-forward this year.

Quinn Harvey, Frankston Rovers

A bottom-ager who has crossed from being a national track and field athlete, Harvey is developing nicely.

Tarion Ah-Mu, Berwick

Ah-Mu is pushing 200cm as a bottom-ager. He played under-16s Vic Country and will progress as a ruck and key-forward this year.
