The Dandenong Stingrays continue to pump out AFL talent and this year is no different. Here’s what you need to know about every player apart of the 2023 squad.

Dandenong Stingrays’ next generation of talent has arrived.

The coaching staff has finalised the boys list, with an exceptional spread of top-age players, bottom-age players, cross-code players and much, much more.

Here is each Stingray on the 2023 list summarised.

Riak Andrew

Brother of Gold Coast Sun Mac, Andrew has had an interrupted 12 months through injury, but holds similar athletic traits to his older sibling.

Justin Barnes

Has pace to burn and knows how to use it, taking four bounces on a run in a hit out a few weeks ago.

Raiden Bergman

Bergman is very different to his older brother, North Melbourne’s Miller. Raiden isn’t as fluent on the outside, instead a stocky inside midfielder.

Patrick Bloink

Had a strong season for the under-16s last season but has had an interrupted pre-season. Will likely develop into an inside midfielder once his size progresses.

Corey Braden

Was originally in Gippsland Power’s region last year but with travel has made the move to the Rays.

Kade De La Rue

An ACL injury 18 months ago came as a blessing in disguise for De La Rue as he has put on approximately 15kg of muscle in his recovery phase. Played every game with the Rays last year, as well as some senior footy exposure at Beaconsfield.

Tahj De La Rue

The left-footer is bigger in size compared to his cousin Kade but will start as an outside player before working his way into the engine room.

Harry De Mattia

The talented dual sportsman has put Premier Cricket with Melbourne aside for the remainder of the season. He is a natural leader who has the respect of every Stingray.

Jordan Doherty

Was measured at 196cm last season but has played most of his junior footy on the outside as a wingman. Can kick neatly on both feet.

Harrison Doughton

Won a Vic Country appearance after kicking four goals in an under-16s game last year.

Sam Frangalas

Has gained a lot of pathway footy experience as a 16- and 17-year-old, which should hold him in good stead for this season. A powerful athlete who can play in multiple roles.

Coren Giliam

Kicked a few bags for Fountain Gate at local level last year. A powerful athlete who is in Melbourne’s Next Generation Academy.

Jack Gosling

A developing tall from Balnarring standing at 205cm who will have a strong presence across the field.

Has been quite impressive in his first year in the program. A defender capable of playing as a third-tall who has a powerful vertical leap and reads the ball well.

Henry Hayes

A state basketballer who moves really well. Has had an interrupted pre-season but is making progress quickly.

Logan Hiscock

Returning from a broken leg last year, Hiscock then suffered a hip-flexor injury in recent weeks. A capable player who is making his way back now.

Ben Hopkins

A first-year Langwarrin product who has impressed in his early introductions.

Kane Hurst

Hurst made the most of a late call-up last year when the Rays had a difficult run of injuries. A third-tall defender who competes very hard.

Cooper Hynes

A talented player with exceptional foot skills. Has had a strong pre-season building his fitness.

Harvey Langford

A talented bottom-ager who has played just one match of pathway footy to date. A 190cm tall, left-footed midfielder. Has given himself a chance to play games early.

Noah Mraz

An elite basketballer who has limitless potential. He played just one game for the Rays in the under-18s last season but is turning heads this pre-season. Stands over 200cm.

Jackson Muscillo

Has just suffered a shoulder injury, so will unfortunately have an interrupted season.

Joziah Nannup

The Doveton junior has broken sprinting records with ease across pre-season.

Matt Nelson

Played some big roles as a bottom-ager last year and performed strongly. Will likely play higher up the ground throughout 2023.

Jordan Nenstiel

Nenstiel is a sound player who is capable of playing multiple roles.

Jacob Noble

A strong key-defensive option for the Stingrays this season.

Ziggy Nosiara

Brother of Hugo, a 2022 prospect, Nosiara is similar with the addition of some contested attributes. Plays out of Mt Eliza and Haileybury.

Charlie Orchard

Orchard is a light-framed tall who kicks well on his right foot.

Tom Payne

A solid player out of Mt Martha Junior Football Club, the club that has seen Jacob Weitering, Lachie Whitfield, Hunter Clark and Jaide Anthony drafted in recent years.

Elwood Peckett

Son of 252-gamer Saint Justin Peckett. Elwood tore his calf prior to Christmas so has endured an interrupted pre-season.

Daniel Pinter

A Haileybury prospect who also plays at Berwick. Has made an immediate impact at the Stingrays this pre-season.

Riley Purton

The small flanker with good foot skills played in 2022 as a 16-year-old. He is adjusting to the step up in size but has promise to be an excellent player.

Hudson Rigg

Came into the pre-season program late and hasn’t put a foot wrong. Is an elite runner but can also hold his own on the inside.

Lachlan Roe

A lean 200cm prospect who has improved his running immensely, shaving well over a minute from his personal best time trials.

Julian Roland

A team player who uses the ball well on his left side.

Charlie Rowe

Talented small out of Mt Eliza who will spend a bit of time all over the ground when given an opportunity.

Kobe Shipp

Son of 35-game ex-Fremantle Docker Andrew. A good-sized player who reads the play really well.

Cooper Simpson

Simpson will be looking to continue strong bottom-age form. Will spend most of his time as a midfielder-forward in 2023. As the only player from the Rays in the AFL Academy, Dandenong is hopeful for big things.

Zane Snowden

Has had a difficult run with injuries but is building back to full fitness.

Miller Stewart

Somerville junior who polled very well in the local league best-and-fairest.

Khian Taylor

Taylor will likely apply his trade as a small forward, utilising his illusive speed and evasive capabilities.

Hamish Terris

State level runner that blitzes all of the Rays’ time trials. While raw, it’s all coming together.

Josh Trembath

Pakenham junior who has shown glimpses this pre-season.

Jordan Waters

Played a bit of Vic Country as a 17-year-old last year as a ruck/key-back. Competes hard and is close to 200cm tall.

Will Whyte

A talented basketballer who is having a crack at footy. He is slowly building towards some performances at Coates league level.

Owen Williams

One of three 19-year-olds on the Rays’, Williams missed a chunk of last year with two broken feet. He will be a slow burn this year as he has only just returned to training.

Jack Wilson

Got some exposure last season in his bottom-age season playing the small forward role.

Billy Wilson

Has had an exceptional pre-season after returning in really good condition. He played predominantly half-back last year but will likely play higher up the ground.

Archie Wilson

Earned a Vic Country trial game last season and will be looking to build this season.

Flynn Wood

An ultimate team man who is last to get up from a pack.
