The future stars of the AFL and AFLW competitions continue to put on a show in the Coates Talent League.
Here are the key talking points from the weekend’s action.
THE LIVEWIRE FALCON
Tom Anastasopoulos is quickly emerging as one of the Coates Talent League’s most exciting small forward prospects.
He booted five goals and had 18 disposals to help steer the Geelong Falcons to a 39-point win over the Oakleigh Chargers.
Angus Hastie, Thomas Burke and Xavier Ivisic also impressed for the Falcons.
PAY ATTENTION TO THESE DEVILS GUNS
Tasmania Devils captain Tom Beaumont is off to a flyer to start the new season after a monster display in his side’s win over the Western Jets.
He recorded a whopping 220 ranking points after a performance which included 38 disposals.
Colby McKercher was also impressive with 31 disposals and it could have been a much bigger day for the AFL Academy member after he booted three behinds.
IMPRESSIVE HAUL FOR REBELS YOUNG GUN
Lily Jordan is the best forward in the Coates Talent League girls competition right now.
The GWV Rebels forward and Redan product continued her impressive start to the season with five goals in her side’s big win over Gippsland Power.
She now has multiple goals, 10 overall, in every game this season.
SMILLIE CONTINUES IMPRESSIVE START
The Eastern Ranges have an exciting prospect on their hands in Josh Smillie.
The midfielder, who stands at 194cm, continued his impressive start to the season with 27 disposals and two goals in his side’s big win over the Gold Coast Suns Academy at the weekend.
KNIGHTS STUNNING COMEBACK
The Northern Knights produced a stunning 35-point turnaround in the final term to secure a seven-point win over the Murray Bushrangers.
Jesse Dattoli, Jed Wallace and Charlie Naish were among the best for the Knights with Coby James named best afield for the Bushies.
STEVENS LEADS REBELS COMEBACK
George Stevens has produced a stunning display to lead the GWV Rebels to a stunning comeback victory against the Sydney Swans Academy.
Trailing by 26 points in the final term, the Rebels kicked the final five goals of the game to run out four-point winners.
Stevens recorded 32 disposals including six rebound-50s.
Oscar Gawith, Harry Charleson and Luamon Lual also impressed.
ALYSSIA PISANO MAKES AN INSTANT IMPACT
Eastern Ranges young gun Alyssia Pisano looks set for a big season.
The Vic Metro representative impressed in her side’s victory over the Dandenong Stingrays with four goals.
Laura Stone was named best afield after collecting 25 disposals.
