Oakleigh Chargers pair Josh May and Kaden Schreiber have joined the list of AFL draft hopefuls from the NAB League club after the duo received invites to the state combine.
Brisbane Lions father-son possibility Lachlan Johnson has also been invited to the Rookie Me combine, but could be limited in his testing as he recovers from a knee reconstruction.
Oakleigh talent manager Jy Bond said Schreiber’s versatility appealed to AFL clubs.
“Kaden Schrieber is just an inside, ball-winning competitive player,” Bond said.
“His aerobic capacity is really high and he can play multiple positions.
“We’ve played him down back, he can play up forward, he’s played inside mid, he’s played outside mid.
“His ability to win contested ball, his courage and love of the contest is what clubs will see with him.”
Bond said May was viewed as a project player.
“Josh May is 6’4” (193cm), outside mid (and has the) ability to play forward,” he said.
“He’s got great potential to grow into his body and is damaging with the ball as well.
“He’s got big upside Josh May.

“He’s still lightly framed so clubs will probably see him as a bit of a project.
“With the size of midfielders these days, he probably fits that mould going forward.”
Johnson could be drafted to Brisbane as his father Chris played 205 games for the Lions and featured in the 2001, 2002 and 2003 premiership wins.
But he could also be recruited to Essendon under a contentious Next Generation Academy ruling.
Johnson is living outside the Bombers’ NGA zone in his draft-eligible year after the family moved to Kew.
The promising youngster has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing a knee reconstruction last month.
“They’re in with a chance (of being drafted) and I’d hope all three would get an opportunity,” Bond said.
“They’ve all got different offerings. One’s a very tall midfielder, one’s a utility and one’s a small pressure forward that can hit the scoreboard … and has elite forward pressure.”
