What a lifter for Devon Meadows.

The Panthers have confirmed they’ve signed Narre Warren premiership captain Trent Cody.

The Outer East league medal winner will line-up in Devon’s red, white and black in their next game against Edithvale-Aspendale on June 17 and play every game thereafter as the 5-3 Panthers chase an elusive first senior flag.

Cody captained Narre Warren’s premiership in Outer East’s Premier division last season but hasn’t played this year.

He is good friends with Devon Meadows co-captain Nick Battle and coach Ryan Hendy.

“We just said to him, ‘see how you feel…if you want to play we’ll take you on board’,’’ Hendy said on Sunday.

“A bit of convincing, and yeah...’’

Hendy said Cody, despite not playing for eight months, was “fit as a fiddle’’.

“He’s been doing a big running program, so he’s ready to go,’’ he said.

Cody is a beautiful kick of the footy and a noted goal kicker who will add a shot of class to Devon Meadows’ side, which includes former AFL players Paddy Ryder and Dean Kent.

After securing its first finals appearance for 22 years last season, Devon Meadows is chasing its elusive first senior flag.
