Peninsula football tradition will continue, with Frankston Park to host grand finals next month.

The MPNFL Division 1 and 2 flag deciders will be played at the bayside oval, known as SkyBus Stadium, home of the Frankston Dolphins.

AFL South East announced finals venues on Wednesday, with Rye, Chelsea and Rosebud to host games.

For football, both divisions will play qualifying finals at Rye FNC, first semi-finals at Chelsea FNC, second semi-finals at Skybus Stadium, Frankston Park and preliminary finals at Rosebud FNC.

“In finalising the venues we have been conscious of selecting venues that provide flexibility and ease of operational management given the current expectations of the Tier 2 Public Event framework as a priority,’’ AFL South East said.

“Following this, a criteria of venue suitability, and equal opportunity for both divisions to play finals at adequate venues assisted this allocation.’’

As SkyBus Stadium does not allow netball to be played at Frankston Park, Somerville FNC (Division 2), Dromana FNC (Division 1) and Langwarrin FNC (Division 1 and 2) will host the second semi-finals and grand finals respectively of the MPNFL Netball competitions.

Elimination finals are at differing venues (Division 1 @ Alexandra Park, Mornington FNC and Division 2 @ Greg Beck Oval, Frankston Bombers FNC).

MPNFL Division 2 finals kick off on August 14, with Division 1 finals blasting off on August 21.
