Seaford kicked the highest score of the round on Saturday, drilling 15 goals after half-time to thrash Crib Point 21.18 (144) to 8.7 (55) at Belvedere Reserve.

Former Collingwood midfielder Tim Broomhead kicked four goals and set up many others as the Tigers ran amok.

Seaford ruckman Macklin Raine controlled proceedings, while Ishak Bashir, Damien Rayson and Mitch Harvey gave dominating performances.

Nick Braund provided plenty of run on the outside and Seaford coach Zac Vansittart marshalled his troops in defence.

Aaron Walton was always dangerous near goals, booting six.

The slick Seaford display prompted Crib Point coach Steve Hamill to declare the Tigers the best side the Magpies had played this season.

“They seem to have a lot more tools in the toolbox,” he said.

“Macklin Raine is a beauty, he controls things, he’s a good ruckman but he’s also got some good midfielders around him.

“Ishak Bashir tore us a new one, he was unbelievable.

“They’ve got all the ingredients to have a pretty good side. I was impressed with them.”

For Cribby, Archie Shepherd and Riley Bracun made their senior debuts.

Exciting small forward Josh Dormer kicked four goals to lead Langwarrin to a thumping 84-point win over an injury-hit Hastings.

Hastings didn’t have a bench after half-time, with ruckman Ben King and star recruit Dylan Wilson among the injured.

Langy ruckman Matt Naughton dominated, along with Nick Tuddenham and Mark Baguley.

Stingrays young gun Jai Culley broke his goal drought in stunning fashion for Langy, firing off three goals in as many minutes in the final quarter as the Kangaroos racked up 20.15 (135) to 7.9 (51).

Mornington inflicted Rye’s first defeat of the season in a high-scoring contest at Alexandra Park.

Bulldogs spearhead Jackson Calder slotted 7.5 in the 47-point win, 18.20 (128) to 12.9 (81).

Harry Bould, Lachie Susovich, Kalen Bird and Adrian Speedy also impressed for the winners.

Mornington coach Simon Goosey said his side wanted to make a statement against the undefeated Rye.

“It was a good team performance, we were probably a bit disappointed the week before with the last half of the Devon game, we let ourselves down,” Goosey said.

“We wanted to make a bit of a statement (against Rye), second versus third, it was a good test and the boys stood up.”

Devon Meadows kicked more points than goals but still cruised home over Tyabb, 11.18 (84) to 5.6 (36), Rory Hillis best-on-ground.

Brodie McConnell and Patty Boland were also in everything and Hamish McLeod and Lachie Batten kicked two goals apiece for the Panthers, who are 3-2.

Chelsea produced the comeback of the round, turning a half-time deficit of 19 points into a 21-point victory over Somerville, 13.8 (86) to 9.11 (65).

The Seagulls kicked three unanswered goals in the third term to level scores at the last break before going on with the job in the final quarter, slotting with five majors.

Todd Gardiner was in scorching form, capping a best-afield display with five goals.

Shaun Foster and Kieran Albanese kicked a goal apiece and were in Chelsea’s best players, along with the running machine Dave Barton, Jake Spasevski and Zane Carter.

For Somerville, Luke Burton kicked four goals and Trav Bravo tried hard.

Karingal held off a fast-finishing Pearcedale to win 19.14 (128) to 16.10 (106).

Scott Jansen, with three goals, was best-afield for the Bulls, who also counted former St Kilda midfielder Tom Curren in their best players.

Karingal led by 39 points at three quarter time but couldn’t relax as Pearcedale surged home with six last quarter goals.

Cruiz West was superb for the Dales while Luke Daniel slotted six goals and Jake Frawley four.
