What a bonus for Dromana.
Frankston Dolphins VFL player Ned Shannon will be part of the Tigers’ premiership push in MPNFL Division 1 this season.
He’s joined Dromana on a home-club basis.
Shannon made the Dolphins list this season and has played in their first three games, including their 30-point win over Essendon when he kicked a goal and had eight possessions.
The 22-year-old was at Crib Point — he won the senior best and fairest in 2018 — before moving to Geelong for university studies and joining St Mary’s.
The left-footer returned to the Mornington Peninsula to take up a teaching post at Padua College, Rosebud.
“He’s an inside and outside midfielder, he’s a left-footer with really good hands in close and a neat kick,’’ Frankston coach Danny Ryan said.
Shannon is the son of Dolphins assistant coach Andrew, who played for Frankston and was also a prominent MPNFL player.
Dromana has started the season well, beating Frankston YCW in the season opener and then having a draw with Red Hill.
The Tigers host Pines on Saturday.
Tigers champion Terry Wheeler is nearing a return after having shoulder surgery just before the season.
Pines will be without star recruit Shane Savage, who has a hamstring injury and also Covid, and Harley Parker, who injured a knee last week.
The Pythons could also be without key player Guy Hendry, whose partner is due to give birth.
