MPNFL club presidents are making a late bid to change the date of the MPNFL Division 1 grand final in September.

They want the flag decider to be brought forward a day to Saturday, September 15, arguing a Saturday grand final is much more financially viable than a Sunday decider.

Frankston Bombers president Chris Sharman said club presidents were “in agreeance’’ to approach the AFL South East commission and request a change.

“Monetary wise you get an extra 15 hours to raise revenue, rather than have it on a Sunday night,’’ Sharman said.

“It’s going to be a blockbuster on the Saturday.

“It’s going to be the last final in the whole region, you know you are going to get everyone there but it has to be on the Saturday to give the clubs the opportunity to raise that revenue for Saturday and all day Sunday at a barbecue or a family day to be able to pay our bills.’’

AFL South East leagues manager Shaun Connell said the commission would discuss the club presidents’ request at its meeting on Monday night.

“It will be a matter for the commission,’’ he said.

The Division 1 grand final was originally slated for Saturday, September 15 on the AFL South East website but it was changed recently.

The SEFNL grand final will be played on Saturday, September 15.
