Earlier, Cloke kicked 1.7 as Tyabb went down to local rivals Somerville by 20 points, 14.18 (102) to 11.16 (82) in front of a big crowd at Bunguyan Reserve.
Despite the loss, the day was hailed a “ripping success’’ by Tyabb president Mark Brady, who said gate takings were three times what they would normally be.
“Travis was terrific, he made himself available all day, was really friendly and engaged with everybody. He didn’t have his kicking boots on unfortunately,’’ he said.
Wearing No. 32, Cloke looked fit and moved well, marking strongly playing up forward.
Tyabb coach Aaron Pacey said Cloke’s attitude was first-rate.
“It was nice having a presence like that,’’ Pacey said.
“When he was flying for the ball, you had no doubt in your mind he was going to mark it. He’s got those big bucket hands. It was good to run around with someone of that quality.’’
Somerville kicked four goals straight after half-time to set up its win, with Jake Haskett, Ryan Gillis and Dale Hynes showing the way. Gillis and Paul Fermanis kicked four goals apiece.
Red Hill made a powerful response to its first round defeat, thrashing Pearcedale 24.25 (169) to 2.3 (15).
Making a firm statement, the Hillmen kept Pearcedale scoreless in the first half while they piled on 10.11.
“Our defenders took it pretty personally last week when they (Karingal) got hold of us a little bit,’’ Red Hill coach Jamie Mollo said.
“We had a pretty big focus to structure up really well and defend really hard and we did for the first half. I think their first goal came from a free kick as well.’’
Red Hill had winners everywhere, including Harry Wynn-Pope, Josh Mold, Daniel McNamara, Jonah Siversen, Chris Irving and Zach Vines. Jonathon Ross kicked five goals and Dean Warry played well in his first game for Red Hill.
Rye coach Adam Kirkwood suffered an ankle injury in his side’s 23-point loss to Hastings. For the Blues, who are unbeaten, Paul Rogasch, Steven Robb and Stingrays lad Clayton Gay impressed.
Crib Point pushed Devon Meadows all the way before losing by 11 points.
Luke Herrington wound back the clock with a sizzling display in the midfield for the Magpies, while Devon’s best were Joel Hillis, Simon Hallsworth and Anthony Cleary.
Seaford remained unbeaten after defeating Langwarrin 15.16 (106) to 7.11 (53). Ben Howlett and Curtis Barker impressed, while Aaron Walton and Sam Lonie booted four goals apiece for the Tigers.
On Saturday night, Karingal made it three wins on the spin, beating Chelsea 13.10 (88) to 11.7 (73). Bulls recruit Marc Holt booted five goals and Dylan Gregson was best-on-ground.
