MPNFL 2019: Sorrento coach Luke Tapscott collars Dogs for six goals

A red-hot Luke Tapscott fired off six goals as Sorrento all but secured a second consecutive minor premiership on Saturday.
The Sharks kicked five goals in as many minutes in the third quarter to break away from Mornington, eventually winning 13.10 (88) to 7.12 (54) at Alexandra Park.
Tapscott was unstoppable, capping the display with a left-foot snap that sailed over the top of the goal umpire’s hat.
Sorrento stalwart Trevor Mattison celebrated his 250th senior game, while Chad Harris, Mitch Hallahan, Luke Lowden and Ethan King and Jake Di Pasquale (two goals) also did well.
Sorrento’s win also all-but sealed Mornington’s relegation fate with a round to go. Adrian Speedy, Jake Smart and Lachlan Susovich tried hard for the Doggies.
The Lachlans — Williams and Wallace — starred for Frankston YCW in its all-the-way win over Mt Eliza, 8.6 (54) to 5. 6 (36), at a muddy Madsen Reserve. The Stonecats’ forward lne continued to function well, with Paul Minchington and Lachlan Street kicking two goals apiece.
A four-goal haul by Jarrad Grant set up the Frankston Bombers’ 21-point win over Edi-Asp at Greg Beck Oval. The former AFL forward combined well with Jack McMillan (three) and Jake Batchelor (one). For Edi-Asp, Trent Robertson and Michael Bussey were best.
Dromana clawed its way to a four-point win over Bonbeach, with Terry Wheeler turning in a best-on-ground display.
The Tigers also benefitted from the lively work of Ethan Johnstone (three goals), Josh Bateman and Sam Fowler. Billy Quigley, Will Geurts and Zac Muschialli also impressed.
Ben McLean, Jackson Casey and Gary Carpenter tried hard for Bonny.

Six goals by Aaron Edwards kicked six goals and a best-on-ground display by Sandringham-listed Johnathan Haidon helped Pines to a 48-point win over Rosebud, 10.10 (70) to 2.10 (22). Luke Dalmau and Tim Bongetti also impressed.
