The Crib Point rebuild is taking shape, with the Magpies signing Keysborough forward Mathew Collett and Somerville midfielder Sam Adams.
Now the next aim for Crib Point is to attract a “marquee” player, new coach Steve Hamill revealing the Magpies have “a bit of space in our salary cap”.
“So if anyone is out there who is looking for a game who can play, give me a call,” Hamill said.
Collett boasts finals experience at Keysborough and has leadership qualities, according to Hamill.
Adams is a strong inside mid-half forward flank who was injured last season and has plenty of upside.
They join a young and enthusiastic Crib list under former Frankston champion Hamill.
Crib Point is striving to bounce back after a wooden spoon finish last season and the club has begun the new year with gusto.
“Very excited how things are tracking,’’ Hamill said.
“There’s a really good feel in regards to people who are keen to be there, they’re all willing and able and ready to go which is good.
“I’m not going to promise we’re going to win a premiership this year but at least we’re enjoying being around there (the club).”
Crib Point will do a fitness camp with the club’s netball squad as it looks to be a more united club.
“We are really focusing on trying to get that one club as a whole, we want to have the netballers as a big part of the footy club,” Hamill said.
“And our netballers have had very good success so they will add value to what we are doing.”
Crib Point has practice games scheduled against Cerberus and Heatherton next month.
