NICK Jewell has landed a coaching job — and he says he couldn’t be more excited.

He is returning to Rosebud, signing with the Buds for the next two seasons.

“Very pleased, great result,’’ Jewell said today.

And Jewell will have his famous father, Richmond premiership coach Tony Jewell, alongside him next season.

“He certainly will be around a fair bit,’’ Nick said.

“I don’t think in any official capacity at this stage but he has offered to help with whatever is needed.’’

Jewell coached Rosebud to a premiership in 2015 before departing to coach rival club Sorrento.

He says he feels a strong connection to the Buds, describing them as his home club.

“I probably always had hoped to go back to Rosebud but wasn’t overly confident it would happen,’’ he said.

“For it to happen rather quickly, yeah, very excited. I’m 40 years old now, a lot older and wiser and understand it was a really great place to be…the three years (I was there), while it may have ended prematurely, it ended with a premiership - and an under-18s premiership and a reserves premiership the year after so it was a great little period for the club. We will get back to those levels hopefully.’’

Jewell said he had spoken to other clubs about coaching in recent weeks but the Buds job was the one he wanted.

“Rosebud came out of the blue really late and once they put discussions on the table in my mind it was the only job I wanted,’’ he said.

“I couldn’t be happier to be going back to my home club, really…where it all started, the club that gave me the opportunity.’’

Jewell said he had signed for two years but “hopefully a lot longer’’.

He says the Rosebud list is full of potential, with Greg Bentley and Ben Dwyer re-committing.

Jewell will succeed Adrian McBean, who will finish up at the end of the season.
