EDI-ASP will face a sudden death final after letting the double chance slip through its fingers in MPNFL Division 1 on Saturday.
The Eagles’ 10-point loss to Sorrento in the final round saw them drop to fourth spot — after they’d occupied a top-three spot for the past two months — and they will face reigning premiers Frankston YCW in the elimination final.

Sorrento finished stronger after scores were level at three quarter-time to prevail 9.13 (67) to 8.9 (57) at Regents Park. Daniel Grant, James Hallahan, Mitch Hallahan and Luke Tapscott showed the way for the minor premiership-winning Sharks.
Edi-Asp has lost to Mt Eliza and Sorrento in the past two weeks and coach Graeme Yeats conceded his side was playing “poorly’’.
“It’s disappointing,’’ Yeats said.
“We’ve played the top two teams in the last two weeks and we haven’t been good enough so I guess that’s an indication of where we are at, I think that’s exactly where we sit. We haven’t beaten YC this year and we’ve lost to the top two teams so I think that’s the mark we’re at I reckon.
“We are not playing well, I’ll put it out there. We are playing poorly, we were really poor in the first half. Our first quarters and early in games we just don’t seem to be able to compete and it’s really frustrating.’’
Mt Eliza and Frankston YCW had a draw, locked together on 7.8 (50), at Madsen Reserve.
The Stonecats led by as much as 16 points but Mt Eliza stormed back in the last quarter on the back of two goals by Ryan McGannon, hitting the front by a point.
YCW’s Lachie Wallace had a snap at goal at the end but it went out on the full.
“It was a really good hit out before next week,’’ YCW coach Wayne Capp said.
“We are looking at making five or six changes to that team for next week. We rested (Paul) Minchington, (Ryley) Hodson and (Kevin) Lylak. They all could have played if it was a sudden death sort of game.
“We gave (Michael) Debenham just a quarter, he was a bit tight so we took him off at quarter time and rested him for the day.
“We are expecting to get back (Cody) Henness and (Jake) Lovett from the VFL. Looking forward to it, can’t wait.’’
Pines forward Aaron Edwards booted 7.4 to help the Pythons beat Bonbeach 17.12 (114) to 8.7 (55) and secure third spot.
Paul Scanlon, Jon Hughes, Guy Hendry, Beau Hendry and Perry Lewis-Smith also played well and Luke Potts made his first senior appearance in seven weeks. Bonbeach’s Gavin Vassallo kicked two goals and was named the Sharks best in his final game.
The Frankston Bombers beat Rosebud by 38 points, with Corey Buchan, Corey Micari, Waide Symes and Jason Kingsbury impressing. All of the umpires in the game were female.
Mornington’s Joel Miller turned in yet another best-on-ground display as the Bulldogs beat Seaford 12.14 (86) to 11.11 (77). Seaford champ Kane Taylor was among the best players in his 200th game.
