Red Hill has added two more key signings as it continues to assemble a strong list for the 2024 Mornington Peninsula league season.

Former VFL ruckman Dylan Atkins and 2022 AFL Cairns Crathern medalist Michael Griechen are seen as significant recruits for the Hillmen.

Both played with Norwood in the Eastern league’s Premier division this year.

Griechen is a strong inside midfielder who made a sledgehammer impact for Centrals Trinity Beach in Far North Queensland last year, winning the medal for best player in the competition.

For Norwood this year, he finished fourth in the strong Eastern League B&F.

Griechen was named in the top 150 country footballers in Australia in a News Corp article earlier this year.

“As tough as a bulldozer when he needs to be, and as slippery as a snake with the ball – Griechen helped transform Centrals’ midfield attack,” the article read.

“He delivers the trash talk in spades, but backs this talk with a motor that doesn’t quit.”

Atkins was on the books at Port Melbourne and Sandringham.

As an Under 18 player he was in the 2013-14 AIS-AFL squad and turned out for the Dandenong Stingrays and Sandringham Dragons.

While on VFL lists he played at Castlemaine in 2018 and ’19.

“A massive figure who dominates in the air and uses his booming left foot to break open the opposition,” Red Hill said of Atkins.

“Unlike like other 6’7” big men Dyl is agile and has the ability to play across the backline or up on the wing.”

After finishing in seventh spot with a 7-11 record in MPFNL Division 1 this year, Red Hill is setting itself to make a charge up the ladder in 2024.

The Hillmen have regained premiership defender Michael Mock.

Mock is fresh off captaining Barmera Monash to the Riverland Football League premiership in South Australia. He was named best-on-ground in the grand final.

Mock brings a wealth of experience with over 100 senior games at Red Hill as well as a stint with the Frankston Dolphins in the VFL.
