What a big name for the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League.
A month after landing at North Melbourne VFL, Adam Tomlinson has listed Sorrento as his home club.
The former GWS and Melbourne 185-gamer has a house in Sorrento and has attended Sharks matches as a spectator in recent seasons.
Sorrento players were told of Tomlinson’s listing on Thursday afternoon.
“He’s aligned with us, but we don’t expect him to play,’’ Sorrento coach James Hallahan said.
“He’s an assistant coach and full-time there at North Melbourne. I think there’s only about four games that are aligned with us on his byes and no doubt he’ll want to have a bit of a rest.
“But, look, if an opportunity comes up it would be good for him to pull on the red and the white.’’
Hallahan said Tomlinson was friends with current and ex-Sorrento players.
“He’s got a house down here, he spends a lot of time down here, he’s good friends with a lot of the players and ex players as well,’’ he said.
“There are a lot of us who’ve had a bit to do with him over the last four or five years.
“You never know if these things come off. It’s more a look to the future. Should he finish playing VFL in the future, geez, he’d be a good one to have full time.
“He’s a terrific fella, wants to give back, super fit.’’
Tomlinson was linked with an SSP trial at West Coast Eagles and Gold Coast, and with Collingwood and Sandringham in the VFL.
But he landed at North Melbourne VFL in late January.
The 31-year-old played 185 games, 140 with GWS and 45 with Melbourne, before being cut by the Demons last October.
He expressed hope he could find his way to a third AFL club but nothing has eventuated.
Tomlinson was a Giants foundation player and crossed to Melbourne in 2020.
An ACL injury in 2021 meant he missed the Demons’ premiership but he played in Casey’s flag in 2022.
