Moorabbin Kangaroos lock in Paul Youle as new senior coach

PREMIERSHIP player Paul Youle is back at Moorabbin as new senior coach, joined by another familar face in Danny Osbaldeston.

MOORABBIN has enticed two former premiership players back to Widdop Crescent as it plots a path back to Southern league success.

The Kangaroos had a thin time of it this year in Division 4, starting well but finishing poorly.

A change of coach was part of a 5-13 year.

The club has appointed former leading ruckman Paul Youle as senior coach and he will be assisted by another ex-Moorabbin star, Danny Osbaldeston.

Osbaldeston is also a former senior coach of the Kangaroos.

In another boost, Josh Stanton, 28, has been installed as a playing assistant coach.

Vice-president Leonard Gould said the club went through a “long and thorough process with many great candidates’’.

“However, in the end, we got an opportunity to not just appoint a new senior coach, but construct a coaching team and succession plan for the future and beyond,’’ Gould said.

He said Youle was a decorated former player and a “fantastic bloke who ticks all the boxes of what we felt this club really needs’’.

“We have no doubt he will make a big impact in making some great change.’’

Gould said Stanton was a “huge acquisition for the club and its future’’.

“He’s the epitome of a young, enthusiastic, super passionate gentleman. Has played some really high-level footy with some of the best and has an intense desire and drive to be part of people’s development, not just as players, but as people and their journey towards success. He really bridges a lot of gaps for us at the club and will be mentored and developed into being senior coach one day.’’

He said Osbaldeston returned to Moorabbin with a wealth of football experience and knowledge.

“Having played high a level of football in his day, he will be a great asset to the club. He is a highly respected person at Moorabbin and is passionate about helping Moorabbin Football Club succeed.’’

Mick Perry, who served as caretaker coach in the second half of the season, will stay on as reserves coach.

A meet-the-coach day will be held at Brownstone Micro Brewery in Eumemmerring on Sunday, October 28, at 2pm.
