FIVE coaches in five years.
That’s the prospect ahead for Karingal in 2018 after the Bulls parted company with Andrew Sharp this week.
Sharp said his departure was amicable, saying he and Karingal “weren’t the right fit’’.
“They approached me three or four weeks ago to find out if I wanted to do the job and I wasn’t quite sure at the time,’’ Sharp said.
“There’s no bad blood, nothing like that. I feel very comfortable with my decision and the footy club’s comfortable with my decision as well.’’
Under Sharp, Karingal won two games and finished second bottom this year.
While disappointed with the win-loss record, he’s glad he did the job.
“I have no regrets. I’m glad I did it. Maybe we didn’t get the results I thought we could have got,’’ he said.
“I don’t think certain players committed as much as what I thought they’d commit.
“We were left with a really young group and I loved it, I loved working with those young players.
“The club can certainly improve with the right people and players coming in I think.’’
Former Sorrento coach Nick Jewell is said to be in the running for the Karingal coaching job.
Sharp said he was looking forward to having some time off.
“I’m going to introduce myself back to the family. It does absorb a lot of your time, I’ve got to say.’’
