New North Ballarat coach Clint Proctor has used his links from Box Hill to sign a former AFL player to the Roosters for 2025.
The club has announced former Hawthorn player Josh Morris has joined the club for this year.
He joins after playing 15 games for the Hawks from 2020 to 2023 after being recruited from South Australia.
Morris spent last year playing in the SANFL for the Woodville West Torrens, playing 19 games, including a final for the Eagles against Glenelg.
He previously played under Proctor in 2022 when the Roosters coach was in charge at Box Hill.
Back then he played as a defender, which helped him get into the Hawthorn team during that season.
But at North Ballarat he will play as a forward with the club describing the 23-year-old as a fast-leading dangerous target.
“He’s an incredibly talented player with great hands and a beautiful kick,” Proctor said.
“On top of that, he’s a fantastic person, and we’re thrilled to have him join the club.”
Morris’ signing is a boost for the club who has lost a few key players to Port Melbourne for the season in VFL.
Riley Polkinghorne, Josh Sparkman, Hugh Trigg and Malachi White will still play for the Roosters but only when they are not playing for the Borough.
North Ballarat start its season on April 5 against Ballarat.
