FRANKSTON YCW star Kyle Hutchison is a colourful character.
He got his first tattoo at 19 and has been collecting ink and premierships ever since.
Now, at 26, the four-time Stonecats premiership player has added a league medal to his collection.
Hutchison was a clear-cut winner in Peninsula league’s top individual award, the EV Shade Medal, polling 35 votes to finish six ahead of Mt Eliza speedster and previous winner Rohan Heasley.
“I was surprised,” Hutchison said.
“I was second at the halfway mark and I thought I had a better second half of the year, so I thought I might do alright but I didn’t think I’d win it.”
The powerful midfielder, who admitted he “snuck in a few beers” after the vote count, rated this his best season.
“I think I’ve been pretty consistent this year but probably had more impact on the scoreboard. I’ve kicked a few more goals and set up a few more than I have in previous years. I would have to say this is my best year, personally,” he said.
Easy going Hutchy wasn’t even annoyed when his name on the league medal was incorrectly spelt - they inadvertently put an ‘n’ in his surname.
“That’s fine. I’ve lived with it for my whole life,” he said.
As for the tats, Hutchison said he enjoys getting them at his favourite place in Chapel St.
“I try to get them when we have byes because you don’t want to be playing a couple of days after you get one because it would hurt when you get tackled,” he said.
“Normally it’s whatever I see. If I like it I get it.”
