What a boost for Red Hill, signing a former AFL Tiger tonight.
Steven Morris, who played 87 AFL games with Richmond and captained the Tigers’ VFL side to a premiership last season, has agreed to play with the Hillmen in 2020.
Living locally, he trained with Red Hill on Tuesday night and signed tonight.
“We’re rapt,” Red Hill coach Jamie Mollo said.
“He’s living locally and was looking for a long-term club and he sees us with our kids as a really good fit.”
Red Hill will step up to MPNFL Division 1 this season — if the season goes ahead — after winning the Division 2 premiership in 2019.
Morris made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2012 season and was a regular member of Richmond’s side in ‘12, ‘13, ‘14 and ‘15.
He was nominated for the AFL Player’s Association Most Courageous Player award in 2013.
After being delisted by Richmond in 2017, Morris elected to sign with the club’s VFL side for the 2018 season. He took on the role of captain in addition to serving as a development assistant coach.
