In-demand Anakie sensation Ajang Kuol mun has signed with West Preston-Lakeside after widespread interest from clubs across the Geelong league.

Kuol mun, 22 had Geelong league clubs clamouring for his services with close to every side asking the question of the rising South Sudanese talent who was tracked by AFL clubs last year.

But the 206 centimetre ruckman has opted to join Northern league division one club West Preston-Lakeside after signing with standalone VFL club Port Melbourne.

Kuol mun was stuck behind Geelong’s AFL listed ruckmen last year, managing five games with the Cats ahead of the mid-season draft.

He burst onto the scene in 2023 with Geelong & District club Anakie in his first season in over a decade, and within 18 months he was impressing with Geelong VFL and on the mid-season draft radar.

The athletic big man tested at the Victorian state draft combine last year — where he won the standing vertical jump test — and told this masthead in October that he was keen to see where his footy journey takes him.

“It is unreal how much I’ve learnt, literally the year before I was just going out to kick for fun with the boys,” Kuol mun said.

“I’m excited, definitely excited for any opportunities that arise. I just want to make sure that I can put myself in the best position, whether it is AFL or VFL, just to really go out there and have a crack and have fun with the boys and enjoy my footy to be honest.”
