BIG Drew will be a Dale.
Yes, Drew Petrie, the former North Melbourne and West Coast Eagles star, will line-up with Pearcedale in its Round 12 home game against rivals Devon Meadows on Saturday, June 30.
Pearcedale is hoping the cameo appearance of the AFL 332-gamer will draw a bumper crowd and whip up much excitement, just as Barry Hall did last season.
Hall kicked eight goals as Pearcedale beat Frankston in front of a tremendous crowd last year.
The Dales will hold a luncheon on the day, featuring comedian Marty Fields. Tickets will sell fast.
Pearcedale coach Leigh Stewart said Petrie had already expressed a desire to make it a success.
“He’s put his hand up to do everything, he’s coming down early to train with the kids on Friday, will get there early to watch the Under 19s on Saturday morning, and then play and enjoy Saturday night with us,” Stewart said.
Pearcedale had several ex-AFL players in their sights to make a cameo appearance, including former GWS Giant Shane Mumford, before securing Petrie.
