Former Richmond forward Noah Cumberland has sent local footy clubs into a frenzy as he decides on a new landing spot.

Cumberland, 23, had been set to return to his junior club Maroochydore following his delisting in October, announcing on social media in November that he was “coming home”.

However, the goalsneak has since bought a house with his fiancee in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and is eager to play local footy elsewhere, having already rejected overtures from VFL clubs.

Cumberland has been circled by local sides after his change of heart with more than 50 community clubs across Australia putting in lucrative offers on the Trainstop local footy recruiting platform since he signed up late last week.

The 185cm forward is open to playing anywhere with clubs in the Eastern, Geelong, Goulburn Valley, Mornington Peninsula Picola & District and Riddell District leagues among those in the mix to secure his signature.

He will weigh up his options with suitors through the Trainstop website.

The Lions Academy graduate would be a daunting proposition for any defender in local footy and showed glimpses of his eye-catching talent across his 25-game, 33-goal career with Richmond.

After being taken with the 43rd selection in the 2019 national draft, Cumberland burst onto the scene in 2022 with 19 goals in nine matches.

That included five goals in just his fifth game against Brisbane, who opted against matching Richmond’s draft bid back in 2019.

He managed another 16 senior games across the next two seasons, seven in 2024, as he fell out of favour with both Damien Hardwick and Adem Yze.

Cumberland booted three majors in the Tigers’ upset win over Adelaide in round 13 last season but was subbed out the next week and played one more senior game before being delisted.
