Eastern league stats: Noble Park’s Kyle Martin claims 50 disposals in biggest swag yet

NORTH RINGWOOD V NOBLE PARK

He pulled in 45 disposals last week in a mammoth performance, but, in his biggest swag of the season, Noble Park’s Kyle Martin landed an outrageous 50 touches.

The captain hauled in 214 ranking points following 25 kicks and 25 handballs at an efficiency of 82 per cent (21 of the 50 possessions contested), with his game further highlighted by 14 marks, seven clearances, six rebound-50s and 11 inside-50s.

While Martin was far and away the most prolific on the ground, he had plenty of teammates in support with five other Bulls pulling in more than 120 ranking points.

Jack Sketcher (174 points) gathered 29 disposals at 75 per cent efficiency, highlighted by 13 inside-50s and 10 clearances, while defender Ryan Morrison (154 points) went at 82 per cent with his 35 disposals.

Billy Schilling continued his consistent season for North Ringwood, leading the way for the hosts with 25 disposals at 80 per cent efficiency for 120 ranking points.

ROWVILLE V BALWYN

What a performance from Charlie ‘Headline’ Haley.

The Balwyn livewire bagged 10 goals (10.2) in a best afield display, on top of 21 disposals (80 per cent efficiency), seven marks inside 50, three clearances and three inside-50s as the Tigers proved too strong for the Hawks on Saturday.

Paul Pattison (176 points) was again among the Tigers’ best as he starred in the midfield with 37 disposals, 12 clearances, nine inside-50s and five rebound-50s, while Alex Urban (119 points) pulled in 36 disposals at 77 per cent efficiency.

Meanwhile, Rowville young gun Taine Barlow led the Hawks with 30 disposals (80 per cent efficiency), eight marks, eight rebound-50s and nine one-percenters, to finish on 131 ranking points.

VERMONT V BLACKBURN

A commanding display from Eagles big men Liam Buxton and Robbie Ross helped their side edge to a three-point win over the Panthers in the 2019 grand final rematch.

Buxton pulled in a whopping 56 hit-outs on the way to collecting 188 ranking points, while Ross enjoyed 27 disposals (20 of those contested), eight clearances, five inside-50s and five marks (three contested) for 147 ranking points.

Young Blackburn ruckman Lachie Harry (123 points) found his share of the ball against Buxton, helping himself to 26 hit-outs while laying six effective tackles, while captain Pat Contin (121 points) finished with a match-high 32 disposals. Meanwhile, Ben Daniher (127 points) and Xavier Murphy (124) gathered 24 disposals apiece, with Murphy claiming eight effective tackles and seven clearances, while Daniher took in nine clearances.

DONCASTER V DONCASTER EAST

Two of the competition’s leading ruckman went head-to-head – and the duel did not disappoint, with very little separating the Lions’ Zac Clarke and the Sharks’ Jake Spencer.

Doncaster East finished ahead on overall hit-outs with a differential of five (51-46), but Doncaster edged its cross-town rival for hit-outs to advantage, edging ahead by one (7-6).

Clarke (144 ranking points) pulled in 40 hit-outs, 14 disposals, six clearances and four rebound-50s to Spencer’s 39 hit-outs, 17 disposals, 10 clearances and five inside-50s for 143 points.

Midfield bull Jack Mahon (116 points) led the way for the winners with tackles (seven), while also gathering 27 disposals, 16 contested possessions and eight clearances, while Collingwood VFL name Hayden Bertoli-Simmonds (107 points) topped the Sharks’ possession count with 30.

Meanwhile, Doncaster’s Liam Coghlan (24 disposals) and Toby Ryan (21 disposals at 71 per cent efficiency) each cracked in with five tackles apiece, for 127 and 126 ranking points respectively.

Doncaster East captain Simon White finished with a best afield 186 ranking points after pulling in 36 disposals, while four Lions finished with seven effective tackles.

SOUTH CROYDON V BERWICK

Four Bulldogs claimed more than 120 ranking points in a resounding win over the Wickers.

Max King (134) led from the front again with 23 disposals at 69 per cent efficiency, 11 marks (six contested) and two goals, while Matthew Burt (132) gathered 29 disposals at 75 per cent efficiency, highlighted by eight inside-50s.

Nick Evans (131) wasn’t far behind, finding 25 possessions and 12 rebound-50s, while Drew Benson (126) pulled in 43 hit-outs.

Travis Tuck (145 points) was a clear standout for Berwick, highlighted by 27 disposals at 74 per cent efficiency, nine clearances, six tackles and six inside-50s.
