Kilsyth hopes to swiftly name a replacement for outgoing coach Paul Newlands after health reasons forced him to step down on the eve of pre-season.
Newlands informed the Cougars before last week’s first training session that he could not commit to the position in 2019.

“I’ve got a few things going on work-wise and body-wise more importantly,” Newlands said.
“To be fair to the club, I can’t give them what they need physically at the minute. Doctors have advised that I need to slow down a bit — de-stress type thing.
“I’ve been and had an operation last week, I’ve got a few more things that I’ve got to do and that’s sort of where it’s at.
“For me to take on a senior coaching role, I can’t give it what I believe it needs.”
Newlands has spent the past two seasons at Pinks Reserve, arriving at the Division 4 club after a stint at Croydon.
“I’d been doing all the recruiting and talking with blokes as I normally would up until my body shut down on me,” he said.
“I love it, it is my outlet but with the way things are at the moment I can’t give it the time it needs.
“I’ve just got to slow down. I’ve got to eliminate some stress and that sort of thing, otherwise I am no good to anyone.”
Kilsyth president Corey Webb said the club would waste no time locking in its coach for 2019.
“Anything that doesn’t go to plan is always going to catch you off guard,” Webb said.
“Thankfully we’ve got a strong committee and a strong core playing group so from that regard we’ve all stuck pretty tight and we’re looking forward to getting someone on board.”
