Park Orchards and Wandin are in a transfer tangle for the services of former Gold Coast and Carlton big man Daniel Gorringe.

Wandin announced on Monday it had signed the ex-AFL ruckman but two clearance applications from the AFL Outer East club to Park Orchards have been denied.

Gorringe’s departure would leave the Sharks without three key playmakers in 2019, with premiership pair Michael Fowkes (Wandin) and (Jarrod Bayliss) also departing.

Park Orchards coach Dennis Armfield, who spent two years with Gorringe at Carlton, said he hoped his former Blues teammate would remain at Domeney Reserve.

“I just want him to do what’s best for his life … I’m a mate of Gorringe’s and I’d love to be a part of it with him,” Armfield said.

“Last we knew he was a Park Orchards player but there’s obviously been the news and the release that he’s now a Wandin player.

“I don’t want to pass too much more comment until I know the correct comments to make.

“It’s new, fresh and raw and it needs to be tidied up from all parties.”

Armfield said the Sharks wanted to help Gorringe through the next phase of his life after he was delisted by Carlton at the end of 2017.

“I said, ‘look, mate I’m here to support you and help you where I can’,” he said.

“All I found out was the release of Wandin on social media. It was a bit of surprise to me but I’m not going to make any comment for or against it.”

Gorringe was taken with pick No.10 in the 2010 draft and played 26 AFL games across seven seasons.

He played 13 games for Park Orchards this year and kicked 35 goals.

Wandin coach Nick Adam said the Bulldogs were negotiating a clearance.

“I can’t really comment at the moment,” he said. “We’re just going through the processes.”
