EFL 2019: Paris Harvie to move on from North Ringwood

North Ringwood will have a fourth coach in as many seasons in 2020 after Paris Harvie declined the club’s invitation to continue in the role next year.

North Ringwood is searching for a senior coach for the second time in less than 12 months after Paris Harvie stepped down from the role.

Harvie informed the club on Monday night he would not be seeking reappointment for next season.

North Ringwood president Lee Robinson said Harvie — and senior assistant Eugene Hansen — had rejected the club’s invitation to coach next year.

“The reason for them to decline the coaching (role) was mainly a different view on our future direction of our club,” Robinson said.

“I believe, and so does the committee, that we are a community club and that our strength is in our people, our families, and our juniors.

“It is important that as a community club we continue to involve local businesses for support, local people for guidance, and use their knowledge of our club history to be successful.”

North Ringwood has missed finals for the past five years since the 2014 second-tier flag.

Harvie joined the Saints as an assistant but stepped up to the senior position when Brett Moyle resigned in November.

The former South Croydon, Doncaster East and Mooroolbark mentor was announced as Moyle’s replacement on Boxing Day.

Moyle had replaced Peter Banfield with five games remaining in the 2017 season.

He secured the club’s place in the top flight with a three-win season.

The club has started advertising to fill the role.

Robinson said the league restructure and introduction of a salary cap and player points system had made EFL Premier Division one of the toughest competitions in the state.

“Even with all of these challenges, I feel that our best method to be successful is to teach and develop our local players,” he said.

“We will not shy away from our commitment to our loyal North Ringwood community and to our direction.

“The club will go through an extensive interview process to find the best available coach to continue to grow our club in 2020 and beyond.”

Harvie will coach the club in North Ringwood’s final game of the season against Vermont on Saturday.

Harvie was contacted for comment.
