South Belgrave continues to take all before it after another big win to remain undefeated in EFL Division 3.

And Glen Waverley Hawks coach Con Borg believes the Saints will go through the year unbeaten.

South Belgrave’s latest thrashing came at the expense of Glen Waverley on Saturday after it walked to a 75-point win.

The Hawks were kept to one goal in the 12.12 (84) to 1.3 (9) defeat.

South Belgrave’s average winning margin is 96 points and it sits undefeated at the top of the ladder with a 13-0 record and percentage of 404.39.

Borg, a respected figure from a coaching stint at Northern league club St Mary’s, said the Saints were “as good as any local side I’ve seen in my time in footy”.

“You’ve obviously got to compare it to what they’re playing against but they’re too well equipped, well drilled and well coached for Eastern Division 3,” Borg said.

“I think they’ve got bigger and better things on their minds. They’re a good side and good bunch of blokes, too.”

South Belgrave recruited a number of top-line players in the pre-season and is living up to the hype as premiership favourites.

When asked if the Saints could be beaten, Borg replied: “From what I’ve see, I don’t think so.

“I don’t think anyone else can beat them but pressure is a big thing and they could beat themselves, possibly, but I can’t see that happening because they’re not getting ahead of themselves.

“You talk to them and they’re definitely not looking too far ahead. I just think it’s a credit to the way they keep going about it week-in, week-out.

“They don’t seem to be looking at that (finals) and I think it’s because they’re in such a strong position where blokes are missing out in the twos as well and they can’t afford to look too far ahead. They’re all fighting for those spots, whether it’s the seniors or development side.”

Glen Waverley is out of the finals race with a 2-11 record.

Borg said other finalists would be making up the numbers.

“The way they’ve recruited and geared up for success in the higher divisions, there’s obviously still a fair bit to play out this year and things can go wrong but it looks like everyone else is playing for second,” he said.

“They’re all on the same page, they’ve got good leadership with some of the blokes they’ve brought in and they’ve got a good mix of older and younger blokes.

“Sitting there watching and you see the way Liam Kidd, Leigh Odermatt and these blokes control the different positions and instructions out on the field, that makes them really strong.”
