TEMPLESTOWE moved a step closer to securing its future in Division 3 after scoring its first win over a top-five side this season.
A Daniel Pearce goal from the goalsquare with less than two minutes remaining gave the Dockers a three-point win over Heathmont, leaving the Jets facing a likely elimination final against The Basin.

Templestowe is the only side that could dislodge Heathmont or The Basin from the top five over the final three rounds of the home-and-away season, sitting a game and percentage outside the finals equation following Saturday’s 11.7 (73) to 10.10 (70) victory over the Jets.
But demotion also remains a possibility for Templestowe, with Waverley Blues ready to pounce if the Dockers suffer a slip up.
The Blues hold a slender percentage advantage over Templestowe, an extra 0.59, but are a game outside the drop zone.
Templestowe coach Craig De Corsey said his side’s aim remained to finish in the top-six, with the bottom six to be demoted as part of the EFL restructure.
The Dockers will start as favourites in their final three games against Donvale and bottom-two sides Warrandyte and Chirnside Park, while Waverley has difficult assignments against undefeated Ringwood and Heathmont in the run home.
“If results go our way, there’s a chance (of playing finals), it’s probably a slim chance because of our percentage, there’s a fair chance we’ll miss out on percentage,” De Corsey said.
“We’ve got to win our last three games to be any chance, but I think winning (on Saturday) cemented the top six for us.
“To be fair, I’d say we should two of our last three so that is the goal really just to finish top six and if we scraped in (to finals), if Heathmont and The Basin give up two games and we can win all three then you never know.”
Elsewhere, Donvale suffered a 49-point defeat at the hands of The Basin.
Waverley Blues also scored a six-point win over Warrandyte to keep alive their hopes of pushing into the top six.
