NOBLE Park was looking for players to step up.

A player exodus of decorated players and great clubmen from Moodemere St left the Bulls battered and bruised over the summer.

But up rise the young talent, including Luke Nelson.

DIVISION 1 POWERHOUSE COULD MISS FINALS

The young forward arrived at Noble Park at the start of the 2017 campaign and has quickly made a spot his own.

The 20-year-old is yet to miss a game at the Bulls, kicking 25 goals from 30 games to be a shining light in his side’s four-win season.

Nelson kicked two goals on Saturday against Norwood and was again listed in Noble Park’s best players to earn the Round 12 nomination for the Eastern Football League Division 1 and 2 Young Gun Award.

“It’s been huge, backing up from his first year at the club last year, when we thought he had a really good year, he’s just come along again and he is now playing some midfield time,” Noble Park captain Kyle Martin said.

“His pace and his smarts around goal is second to none and he’s a really, really good young talent.”

Martin said Nelson had become a more consistent performer.

“He’s definitely very important to how we play and the system that we have at the moment,” he said.

“The role he has been able to play for us this year has been huge and he has really filled that without any problems at all.”

Nelson is the second Noble Park player to be nominated for the award after Bailey Lambert was the Round 5 nominee.

Nelson is joined by Division 3 and 4 nominee Mark Ferraro from Templestowe.

Ferraro was listed as the Dockers’ best player in the Round 13 win over Waverley Blues, stepping up to senior football in 2018 after playing in the under-19s last year.
