Moonee Valley has further motivation in its bid to keep its Division 1 status for 2025.

The Fog have announced coach Ian Denny will stand down at the end of the season.

Denny, the club’s 1999 senior premiership coach, took over for the 2022 season after the Essendon District league club parted ways with Shanon Carroll.

Moonee Valley’s announcement comes with just two games left to play in the season and Denny’s side well and truly entrenched in a relegation battle.

They sit ninth on the ladder, one game and seven per cent clear of 10th place Rupertswood with games against Keilor Park and West Coburg to come.

“On behalf of the Moonee Valley Football Club, I wish to thank Ian for his outstanding services over the past three years as senior coach,” president Michael Milne said.

“To have such a stalwart of this great club leading this playing group has been invaluable – his knowledge and experience of the game will be really missed.

“We love Ian’s commitment and passion for Moonee Valley, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions. There’s no doubting the black and white runs through his veins.”

Denny has been credited with leading the club forward and providing a number of young players an opportunity to play senior footy.

“Ian has done a terrific job guiding this playing group as they made the move up to Division 1 in 2022 whilst also providing a number of U18 players with their senior opportunities, helping build valuable experience,” the club said.

“Under his leadership, the team has fostered a great culture of growth and development, ensuring the future success of the Club.

“Ian is a valued life member, member of the team of the century, a premiership player and coach, and a multiple best and fairest winner.

“His dedication to the club both on and off the field has left an indelible mark, and his legacy will undoubtedly inspire future generations of players.”

Moonee Valley will celebrate Denny’s achievements to the club against Keilor Park this weekend.
