A new coach has been tasked with leading Moonee Valley’s move into division one after Shanon Carroll and the club parted ways.
The club announced Carroll had left his post at the helm of the Essendon District league club in a statement on Friday morning.
1999 premiership coach Ian Denny has been appointed as the new mentor with immediate effect.
Carroll departs as a premiership coach after The Valley was awarded the division two premiership last season with the club having finished ahead of Oak Park on percentage in division two.
He joined the club in 2018 leading them to a grand final appearance in 2019.
President Jason Hellwig said Carroll had played a “pivotal role” in the club returning to the second tier of the competition overseeing the development of key players at the club.
“Shanon leaves a positive legacy seeing the club move up to division 1 with a strong core playing group and we thank him for his service over the past four years,” he said.
“Shanon will always be part of the Valley family and a very welcome visitor to the club and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Denny was most recently a senior coach with Point Cook in the Western Region league.
He helped guide the club into division one following a 2018 premiership win.
“Ian is a highly experienced contemporary coach with a deep passion for football and The Valley,” Hellwig said.
“He is a life member of the club, member of the team of the century, a premiership player and multiple best and fairest winner.
“We are excited to have Ian on board and we are sure he will continue the momentum the football club has developed over the past few years.”
The Valley will open their season against Westmeadows on Saturday, April 2.
