A junior footy coach from Melbourne’s northwest has become the second mentor to be handed a lengthy suspension by the tribunal in a matter of weeks.

Keilor’s Jared Threlfall was handed a six-week ban by the Essendon District league judiciary on Tuesday night after he faced the tribunal on two separate charges.

On one charge, Threlfall was suspended for four games for “behaving in an abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene manner towards or in relation to an umpire”.

He was handed an additional two games for “using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language towards or in relation to an umpire”.

Threlfall is the coach of one of Keilor’s under 16 boys teams with the Blues fielding three sides across the EDFL’s five divisions for that age group.

His ban comes just two weeks after Oak Park under 18s coach Julian Valentino was handed the same ban after facing the same charges.

Threlfall’s suspension was the largest handed down among the seven people to front the tribunal.

Moonee Valley will miss three players for its senior men’s Division 1 clash against ladder leader Airport West this weekend.

Jesse Dench and Richard Potter were both given two-game suspensions for striking and a minor act of misconduct respectively.

John O’Brien was given a one-match ban for “engaging in rough conduct against an opponent which in the circumstances is unreasonable.”

Two junior players were also given suspensions for striking.
