Essendon Doutta Stars isn’t messing around in the recruiting department.
The club has confirmed the arrival of two new faces and one returning for the 2023 season.
It continues a busy off-season for the Stars who recently announced Barry Prendergast as the club’s new coach for the 2023 season.
Tom Wallis, the son of Essendon premiership player Dean, returns to Nipper Jordan Oval after last playing for the club in 2019.
He’ll be joined by Ethan Sivijs and Jordan Davis, who will cross from the Western Region Football League.
Wallis spent this year living and working in Western Australia where he played for East Perth’s and East Fremantle’s reserves teams in the WAFL.
“Please join us in welcoming Tommy Wallis back to Doutta Stars for 2023,” the club said in a social media post.
“We are excited and very much looking forward to seeing Tommy back in Melbourne and in the navy and gold for season 2023.
“Tommy’s most memorable Douttas’ moment was the Greenvale win in 2018 under the guidance of his father coach Dean.”
Sivijs is a former QAFL player and played for Sunshine in the Western Region Football League this season where the Kangaroos were eventually relegated from Division 1.
“We are very excited to see Ethan in the navy and gold whom promises to be a great prospect for the Doutta Stars,” the club said.
“Ethan moved down to Victoria this year and has enjoyed a fantastic season in the WRFL top division.”
Sivijs will be joined by Davis who played six games for the Roos this season.
“We are very keen to see Jordan in action on Nipper Jordan Oval next year and we are excited to see him bring his tenacious game and effort to Doutta Stats,” the club said.
“Jordan has been a fantastic performer in WRFL top division for a number of years and has built a strong reputation of being a super hard running and tough midfielder who will suit our ground very well.”
Doutta Stars found themselves in a relegation battle for large parts of the 2022 season eventually finishing ninth with just three wins to their name.
Young gun Paddy McLaughlin and speedster Ray Eid are two players to have recommitted to the club.
