East Keilor has it’s man, Justin Sherman will take the reins in 2025.
The former Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs forward returns to the Essendon District league after a two-year stint at Riddell District club Romsey.
Sherman was previously coach of Craigieburn and has also led Northern club Laurimar, Goulburn Valley power Kyabram and was an assistant at Coates League talent factory Northern Knights.
Pat Christofi announced he would step down as East Keilor president and senior coach in August.
The Cougars finished the EDFL Premier Division season in ninth with four wins but well clear of relegated Avondale Heights.
The club announced the hire on Saturday night.
“East Keilor Football Club proudly welcomes Justin Sherman as the new senior coach for the 2025 season,” the announcement said.
“With a distinguished career in the AFL, playing 138 games with the Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs, Justin brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and football acumen to the club.
“Justin is committed to building a competitive and cohesive team.

Under Sherman, Romsey finished fifth in 2023 before defeating reigning premier Riddell in an elimination final, bowing out at the hands of Woodend-Hesket in a semi-final.
This season, the Redbacks were top-three contenders for much of the season before finishing fourth and crashing out in an elimination final loss to Macedon.
